You’re invited for a native plant swap and potluck lunch in the Gardens!
Have bunches of bee balm? Copious coneflower? Pot up your extras and share with your neighbors! No plants to swap? Join us anyway; gardeners are generous folk and we’re sure to have extras.
Bring a dish to share as well, and enjoy getting to know fellow native plant enthusiasts.
Bringing plants?
If possible, please label your plants with as much information as you can, such as the following:
Common name and scientific name
Light, water, and soil requirements
Height and spread
Please be sure your plants are healthy.
Inspect leaves & stems: no spots, wilting, curling, or mold.
Check roots: firm and white, not black, mushy, or smelly.
Look for pests: check under leaves for aphids, mites, or sticky residue.
Use clean soil/pots: ideally, repot in fresh, sterile potting mix.
Consider bare-rooting: exchanging without soil helps stop hidden soil pests.
If you need pots, please swing by the Gardens; we’ll have some set out by the gatehouse over the next few weeks for all to use.
Staying for the potluck?
Please bring a dish to share and make some new friends!
We will have some tables set up, but please bring chairs or blankets, serving utensils for your dish, and a plate and utensils for yourself.
