Fairy Day Is Coming!

Put Saturday July 12, 2025 from 1-5 p.m. on your calendar! The Daniel Boone Native Gardens will be hosting our annual Fairy Day celebration, so get your costumes ready! (Or come as you are!) Regardless, be prepared for a good time. There will be activities for children of all ages, henna, fairy hair, and face-painting artists, numerous vendors selling whimsical and inspired art and crafts, and a whole afternoon of dancers and musicians. Our fantastic fairy, Brucie Abella, will be enchanting all the fair-goers, and several food providers will offer treats to beat the heat! A full list of vendors, activities, musicians and dancers will be posted in early June, so stay tuned! Admission will be $5 for all adults, with young folk 17 and under free! There will be a little incentive for adults to wear their fairy and woodland best; to be announced later! For more information, check our Facebook and Instagram pages later in the spring. Hope to see you there!

A Successful 2024 Fairy Day!

Fairy Day 2024 at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens was a big success, with over 900 folks attending. We would like to thank all our activities providers: Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture, the Watauga Arts Council, the Watauga County Library, the Children’s Playhouse, and Betty Womack. And we would be unable to put on such a fun and entertaining event without all of our wonderful volunteers, including the annual assistance from Charlie Wallin, our gardener Jordan Bailey, and photography by Bill Barbour. Many teen volunteers were provided by Mountain Alliance, as well. And a big shout-out to our wonderful dancers, yoga instructors, and musicians: Erin Williams Banks and Cayla Fralick, Noelle Austin, Gigi Perazolo, Neighborhood Yoga, Sole Impact Studios, Old Souls, The Walls, and Las Rosas y El Clavel. Of course, I’d also like to thank all our vendors for providing the crafts, fairy makeovers, plants and yummy treats: Sarah Spencer (GaeasCandy), Kali Mullins (Gold Dust Creative)Alysia Puckett (Acorn Lief Creations), Yvonne Finne (Peace of Green), Sarah Welch (High Country Crystals, Trish Daniels (Fake a Face face painting), Riley Owens (fairy hair), Marsha Walpole (flower tattoos, Lucy Dees (henna tattoos), The Cardinal food truck, Sunset Slushies, and Poppies Crafted frozen treats. Stick Boy provided wonderful cookies for us to sell, and Jerry Hutchins donated his magical fairy tiny homes for us to sell. And Fairy Day would not be a proper Fairy Day without our lovely and engaging professional fairies: Brucie Abella and Acorn Lief! Finally, I would like to thank the Daniel Boone Native Gardens board members who spent so much time and energy making sure Fairy Day was the best ever: Rebecca Hutchins and Betty Womack (Activities coordinators), Pat Rusch (Volunteer coordinator), Mollie Shanly (Marketing and Publicity coordinator), Martha Ross (Finance Coordinator), and Meredith Perry, (Music & Dance coordinator. It truly takes a village! And what a great village we have!! We hope to see you next year, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Check back in the spring to see what’s in store for Fairy Day 2025! And keep your lives magical in the meantime!
